Crimean man sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexual crimes against stepdaughter

The evidence collected by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol was recognized by the court as sufficient to convict a 39-year-old resident of the Simferopol region. A Crimean citizen was found guilty of crimes of a sexual nature against his minor stepdaughter, including taking advantage of her helpless state (clause “b”, part 4 of article 132, part 1 of article 134, parts 1, 2 of article 135 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ).
The investigative department for the city of Yalta and the court found that from December 2015 to April 2023, the man, while remaining alone with his stepdaughter in the car, as well as at places of residence in Simferopol, Yevpatoria and Yalta, committed sexual crimes against her. The first crime against a child was committed when the girl was seven years old.
For several years, the schoolgirl was intimidated by her stepfather, but after a while, during a confidential conversation with her mother, she nevertheless told about one of the terrifying facts. After the woman contacted law enforcement agencies and initiated a criminal case, investigators established other episodes of illegal actions by the attacker— said the Investigative Committee.
Large-scale work was carried out to collect evidence with the involvement of expertscom, as well as specialists for the rehabilitation of the victim.
By a court verdict, a resident of the peninsula was found guilty of sexual crimes against his adopted daughter and sentenced to 16 years in prison in a maximum security penal colony.
