Crimean police detained a fraudulent courier involved in defrauding two pensioners aged 75 and 102 (!)

In Crimea, the duty station of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Alushta received two messages from local residents about fraud committed against them. In both cases, during a telephone conversation, unknown persons provided pensioners with information that their relatives were the culprits of the accident, and they needed financial assistance to resolve the issue of criminal liability.
The victims of the fraudsters were a 75-year-old woman and a 102-year-old man. In the evening, a courier arrived to the victims, to whom they handed over their money. The total amount of material damage amounted to 320 thousand rubles. During operational search activities, police officers identified a possible suspect in the crimes. He turned out to be a 35-year-old resident of Krasnodar who had no previous convictions. During a business trip, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea and police department No. 2 “Kyiv” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Simferopol detained an attacker,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
During a search at the messenger’s place of residence, 3 mobile devices, a bank card and an additional SIM card were found and confiscated.
It was previously established that the suspect found a part-time job through the messenger, which consisted of taking money from citizens and transferring it through an ATM to the employer’s account, leaving himself 10% as a reward.
The operatives also received information about the involvement of the detainee in committing four more similar acts in the territory of Simferopol, Yalta and the Simferopol region.
Criminal cases have been initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant was taken into custody.
