Crimean police solved a crime from previous years
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Crimean police officers have solved a crime committed remotely 4 years ago in the city of Simferopol.
In 2020, a 44-year-old local resident filed a complaint with the Police Department No. 1 «Zheleznodorozhny» of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol. The woman said that she wanted to buy a fur coat through an online free classifieds service, found a good deal and contacted the «seller». The interlocutor told the applicant that she would send the goods after prepayment, to which the woman agreed and transferred the funds. Later, no one contacted the applicant, and the money was never returned. The total amount of damage was 7 thousand rubles. It was not possible to solve the crime on the spot. Nevertheless, the Simferopol police continued to work until they achieved a result — the arrest of the suspect in the crime. And during a number of operational and investigative measures, the police officers established the identity and location of the offender— the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea noted.
In July of this year, officers of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol, in cooperation with colleagues from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kurgan Region, detained the offender in the city of Kurgan at her place of residence. She turned out to be a 31-year-old woman previously convicted of a similar crime.
The investigator of the police department No. 1 «Zheleznodorozhny» of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Fraud». The woman faces a maximum penalty of up to 5 years in prison. The suspect was given a preventive measure — a written undertaking not to leave.
