Crimean police sum up the results of the operational and preventive operation «Mak»

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea summed up the results of the interdepartmental comprehensive operational and preventive operation «Poppy», the purpose of which is to prevent, identify, suppress and disclose offenses in the Crimea in the field of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs of natural origin, identify and eliminate illegal crops and areas of wild plants, containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances or their precursors.
Police officers, in collaboration with representatives of local governments and units of the Main Directorate of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, carried out surveys of household plots and summer cottages of citizens, as well as land plots of enterprises and organizations. As a result of the operation, 127 cases of illegal cultivation of drug-containing plants were identified. As a result of the measures taken, more than 1,500 drug-containing plants were destroyed. Based on the revealed facts, 121 persons were brought to administrative and criminal liability— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
During the operation, police officers also seized more than 30 kg of narcotic drugs of plant origin. 26 foci of wild drug crops were identified, located in various regions of the Republic, which were destroyed by land users and tenants after orders issued by police officers.
