Crimean Prosecutor's Office: sentences handed down in criminal cases of espionage

The court agreed with the opinion of the state prosecutor about Zhukov’s guilt and sentenced him to 12 years in prison to be served in a maximum security penal colony.
A sentence was passed under the same article (espionage) in a criminal case against 48-year-old Ukrainian citizen Sergei Korzh. The court found that from June to August 2022, Korzh, living in the Zaporozhye region, collected and transmitted to an employee of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine information about the locations of equipment and personnel of units of the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation in the Zaporozhye region. The transmitted data could be used to launch fire strikes at the locations of the Russian military.
The illegal actions of the defendant were stopped by officers of the Border Department of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case was carried out by the Directorate of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopolnoted the prosecutor’s office.
The court agreed with the opinion of the state prosecutor about Korzh’s guilt and sentenced him to 13 years in prison to be served in a maximum security correctional colony.
