Crimean rescuers took part in a prayer service in honor of the image of the Mother of God “Burning Bush”

On September 17, in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “Burning Bush”, a thanksgiving prayer service was held in the church-chapel of the same name, located on the territory of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Crimea in Simferopol. It was attended by employees of the Main Directorate, firefighters, rescuers, as well as members of their families.
The service was performed by the rector of the church of the Simferopol and Crimean diocese, Archpriest Dmitry Krotkov.
The icon of the Mother of God “The Burning Bush” in Rus’ has always been considered the guardian of the home from fires and has been the patroness of firefighters since ancient times. It is on this day throughout the peninsula that employees of the emergency department, together with parishioners, attend prayer services, liturgies and perform religious processions in honor of the holiday.
The temple-chapel was erected in 2007 on the initiative of Crimean rescuers in memory of the fallen liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster and was named in the name of the “Burning Bush” icon of the Mother of God. Consecrated by Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea. This is one of the most ancient icons, which is the protector of all rescuers and firefighters. People also pray to this icon to protect their home, themselves and loved ones from various natural disasters and catastrophes.
