Crimean residents exchanged half a ton of coins in banks
CrimeaPRESS reports:
During the «Coin Week» campaign, residents of the Republic of Crimea exchanged about 500 kg of coins for banknotes. The campaign was held throughout the country with the support of the Bank of Russia from May 20 to June 2. During this period, anyone could exchange small change for banknotes or deposit funds into their account.
Thanks to the participation of Crimeans in the campaign, it was possible to collect more than 100 thousand coins. Most often, residents of the region exchanged coins of 10 and 1 ruble denominations. In total, people in Russia returned more than 31 million coins into circulation— said the head of the Bank of Russia branch in the Republic of Crimea Igor Tsvetkov. — Returning small change into circulation will reduce the cost of minting new coins, and retailers will replenish their change stocks.
Crimeans were able to exchange metal money for paper banknotes at bank branches in Simferopol, Feodosia and Yalta.
