Crimean surgeons operated on two patients with a rare pathology
Krympress reports:
The air cyst is a pathological formation that occurs in the parenchyma (fabric) of the lung and is a cavity filled with gas. According to the statistics of WHO, the prevalence of pathology is 3-5% among all patients with various diseases of the respiratory system. The disease can occur both with symptoms of damage to the respiratory system and asymptomatic. The risk of complications in both cases is equally high — this is respiratory failure, a decrease in the quality of life, and with the progression of the disease, the displacement of the mediastinum in the flesh to the heart.
The leading cause of the development of this pathology is the bullet emphysema of the lungs. As a rule, an air cyst of the lungs is diagnosed when a preventive examination is undergoing or during a diagnostic X-ray research of the chest organs when complaints appear from the respiratory system. The only method of treating this pathology is surgery.
Thus, a 57-year-old man was hospitalized at the Center for Physics and Pulmonology, who, according to the results of the CT of the study of the chest organs, was identified with a giant air cyst of the left lung. Previously, the patient drew complaints about pain in the subloop region and fever to 38 degrees. The patient did not have bad habits, but there were harmful factors of labor — the man worked as an agronomist and often contacted dust and chemicals.
After a comprehensive examination, the patient performed an operation during which the doctors removed part of the lung with an air cyst completely without damaging its integrity. Complex surgical intervention was performed by doctors — thoracic surgeons Dilyaver Karakash and Ruslan Karimov.
The postoperative period proceeded without complications, the patient was discharged after the sixth day in satisfactory condition.
Earlier, in November last year, Crimean doctors faced a similar clinical case. A giant air cyst was detected in a 44-year-old man without bad habits. The patient for more than 20 years has not passed the x-ray of the chest organs. The disease manifested acutely — with physical activity, abdominal pain appeared. After the examination and provision of emergency surgical care, the patient also performed an operation to remove part of the lung along with an air cyst.
Doctors remind — annually all citizens need to undergo a preventive medical examination or medical examination. Many diseases can be asymptomatic for a long time. Regular examination will allow in the early stages to identify disorders in the state of health and start treatment in a timely manner.
