CrimeaPRESS reports:
You can vote for OUR tree until August 1st.
The Crimean Suvorov Oak participates in the national competition «Russian Tree of the Year 2023». The event is held as part of the activities of the All-Russian Program «Trees — Monuments of Wildlife».
Until August 1, 2023, online voting is open on the website https://rosdrevo.ru/.
The purpose of the competition is to highlight the importance of old-growth trees in the natural and cultural heritage. The event focuses not on beauty, size or age, but on the history of the tree and its connection with people— told the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Crimea.
Suvorov oak is one of the oldest historical sights of the Belogorsk region of Crimea. The tree on the voting list is number 34. Vote for OUR oak tree!
This tree is unique: the height of the Suvorov oak is 18 meters, the circumference of the trunk is more than 10 meters, and the crown is 40 meters. The tree is examined several times a year by specialists who carry out preventive and curative work to maintain the oak.
Thousands of tourists annually come to the Suvorov Oak: some to join the history, some for a picnic, and some for a sightseeing historical tour.
