A woman from Belogorsk gave a scammer about 7 million rubles for… clearing karma. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea said, in July 2023, the applicant received a call from an unknown person who introduced herself as “healer Dorothy” and told the woman that if she did not perform a certain ritual of protection and purification of karma, then trouble could happen to her close relative. For this you need 100 thousand rubles. The Crimean woman had doubts, but Dorothy convinced her that after the ceremony the funds would be returned to her account. The victim agreed and transferred the money within 4 months to the account specified by the fraudster. When the woman realized that she had been deceived, she contacted the police.
It was also established that this citizen had already used this service in 2021 and then she paid more than 2 million rubles.
Crimean police warn:
Over the past three days alone — from January 29 to 31 — 48 citizens, of whom 19 were men and 29 women, contacted the police. All of them became victims of remote scammers.
