Crimean youth painted pictures for the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Cuba
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Paintings and illustrations for the 65th anniversary of the Liberation of Cuba are presented at the Crimean State Engineering and Pedagogical University named after F.Ya. Yakubov, the exhibition also includes photographs and books about Cuba. This was announced by the Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers — Minister of Finance of the Republic of Crimea, Chairman of the Crimean regional organization of the Russian Society for Friendship with Cuba Irina Kiviko.
It is very important that young people do not remain aloof from political life. This is especially true for Cuba, which has suffered from an inhumane blockade by the United States for more than 60 years. We all say — no to the blockade of Cuba! I am confident that our voice will be heardsaid Irina Kiviko.
According to her, all the paintings and illustrations presented at the exhibition were made by students of the department of fine and decorative arts.
She noted that activists of the Russian Society for Friendship with Cuba have repeatedly participated in raising funds for Cuba, held cultural events, and an alley was planted in the Artek International Children’s Center in honor of Soviet-Cuban friendship.
It’s nice that young people are picking up our baton. It is the youth who develop and strengthen cultural and friendly ties with their Cuban peers. And the first exhibition of works of art shows that these restless hearts beat in unison with the hearts of Cubans and all sympathetic people around the world,” emphasized Irina Kiviko.
As part of the grand opening of the exhibition, poems by the Cuban educator, poet and journalist Jose Marti were read, and performances by music and dance groups took place. Participants of the exhibition were awarded in a solemn atmosphere.
Let us remind you that Cuban Liberation Day is celebrated annually on January 1 and is one of the most significant holidays on the Island of Liberty. On January 1, 1959, rebel troops, after more than five years of armed struggle, entered Santiago and Havana; on January 8, Fidel Castro solemnly arrived in the capital.
