Crimeans are offered to exchange change at bank branches
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Residents of the Republic of Crimea are invited to exchange their accumulated change at commercial bank branches. The “Coin Week” campaign will be held throughout the country with the support of the Bank of Russia.
The Bank of Russia mints a large number of coins, but most of them are not returned to circulation for various reasons. Businesses increasingly prefer cashless payments, and stores are reluctant to accept coins as payment. People’s change ends up in piggy banks,” explains Igor Tsvetkov, Head of the Bank of Russia Branch for the Republic of Crimea. – Such an action will help return coins to circulation and reduce the costs of their production. Last year, during a similar event in Crimea, 83 thousand coins were collected — that’s about 370 kg.
You can exchange change from May 20 to June 2 at bank branches Simferopol, Feodosia and Yalta. To take part in the promotion, you need to take your passport with you and fill out an application at the bank. Coins can be exchanged for paper bills or credited to your bank account without commission. In the first case, it is not necessary to be a client of the bank where the exchange is made. There are no restrictions on the number of coins.
You can bring any Bank of Russia coins currently in circulation, issued since 1997, to banks. Oxidized, darkened, drilled or scratched coins will also be accepted. Some banks may offer their clients souvenirs or commemorative coins — details and conditions should be clarified with the specific credit institution.
