Crimeans are warned: drunk drivers remain under increased control of the State Traffic Inspectorate
CrimeaPRESS reports:
During the New Year holidays and long weekends, additional traffic police units work on the roads everywhere. Mass inspections and special operations are carried out on an ongoing basis to prevent violations and identify drivers driving vehicles while intoxicated.
Over the past few years, accidents involving drunk drivers have been decreasing, and this trend has continued in 2023. According to statistics, over the 11 months of last year, the number of accidents involving drivers with signs of intoxication on the country’s roads decreased by 9.9%. The number of people killed and injured in such road accidents decreased by 16.5% and 9.7%, respectively.
At the same time, preventing accidents involving drivers while intoxicated remains one of the priorities of the State Traffic Inspectorate. Representatives of the public take an active part in this work. In many Russian regions, civil activists voluntarily go out to patrol roads on holidays and weekends, promptly reporting drivers who behave inappropriately to the State Traffic Inspectorate.
Currently, almost three quarters of all reports that a drunk driver may be driving are received via the emergency number “102”, through the official website of the State Traffic Inspectorate, official department accounts on social networks, “helplines” and other communication channels, which is an indicator of negative attitude in society towards traffic violators, especially drunk drivers.
The State Traffic Inspectorate notes that on New Year’s holidays, as at any other time, there are and will not be any concessions or loyal attitude towards drunk drivers.
All road users also need to not remain indifferent to the problem of drunk driving, and promptly report to the police about drivers who behave inappropriately on the road or drive while intoxicated. State Traffic Inspectorate employees are ready to take all necessary prompt measures to respond to such messages.
Traffic inspectors across the country will continue to serve in enhanced mode until the end of the New Year holidays. The divisions that receive citizens — registration, examination, administrative practice — these days work according to a special schedule, which can be found on the regional pages of the official website of the State Traffic Inspectorate.
