Crimeans call on businesses in southern Russia to jointly trade with Africa

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers — Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the President of Russia Georgy Muradov calls on businessmen in the south of Russia to unite to develop cooperation with African countries.

It will be easier for businesses in the south of Russia, together with Crimea, to develop business ties with African countries in a consolidated manner. We can talk about establishing regular flights of commercial and passenger ships to Russian Black Sea ports, in particular to the ports of Crimea, as the closest to Africa. We need to unite to make cooperation profitable and long-term— said TASS Muradov.

He sees cooperation in the joint purchase of large quantities of goods, for example, supplies of cocoa, coffee, and nuts for confectioners.

It is simply not profitable to transport one or two containers of coffee or cocoa to Crimea. To do this, it is necessary for enterprises and confectionery factories in the south of Russia to unite and collectively purchase large volumes for the production of chocolate, sweets and other confectionery products. What is it for? In order for us to provide our consumers with much cheaper and higher quality products, — Muradov notes.

There may also be talk about the construction of berths in African ports, technical assistance in the search for minerals, including oil and gas, in which Crimea has experience.

African Forum

The Deputy Prime Minister does not rule out that to facilitate mutual settlements and deliveries, the clearing system, which was widely used in foreign trade of the USSR, could be used.

Over the years, unfortunately, the skills of mutual trade have been lost. We need government support for foreign trade, the creation of mechanisms similar to clearing mechanisms from the times of the Soviet Union, that is, mutual non-cash payments for delivered products. This must be done collectively. The base and platform for cooperation is very goodsays Muradov.

According to him, these and other topics are planned to be discussed at a forum of Russian and African businessmen in one of the African countries, the idea of which is currently being discussed. The forum should be preceded by exchanges of visits between entrepreneurs to establish contacts and study the conditions for doing business.

Previously, the special representative of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov at the opening ceremony of the III International Youth Forum “Russia — Africa: What Next?” stated that Russia is building a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership with Africa, and the continent is confidently strengthening its international authority.
