This year, the “Direct Line” of Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place on December 14. It will be combined with a large press conference. Messages from citizens have been accepted since December 1. Every Russian can contact the Head of State by calling the hotline, sending an SMS to a short number or through the website moskva-putinu.ru.
For example, on previous Direct Lines, residents of Crimea asked questions about gasification, healthcare, pricing, and roads. They also thanked Putin for the construction of an important infrastructure facility — the Crimean Bridge.
Crimean political scientist Denis Baturin said that the “Direct Line” format has been tested by time and is a relevant and modern way of communication between citizens and the leader of the country. According to him, this allows the Russian President to state his position on the main issues facing the state and receive feedback from residents.
The questions that are collected in preparation for the “Direct Line” are a huge sociological material for studying the situation and the methods of work of local authorities. They demonstrate the mood of society and its needs, reveal how people currently feel in our country and show their reaction to decisions made,” Denis Baturin emphasized.
Political scientist Sergei Melnichuk also notes the promise of the combined format of the upcoming Direct Line. According to him, both formats are similar in idea, although they address a different range of issues.

This will be especially relevant for reporters from regional media, since they will be able to pay attention to the appeals of fellow countrymen, and thereby speed up the resolution of problems that are addressed to the President,” Sergei Melnichuk clarified.
