Crimeans received medals from the Russian Air Racing Championship in the jet class

On October 17-19, the second stage of the Russian Air Racing Championship took place at the Oreshkovo airfield in the Kaluga region. This time the pilots competed on L-29 jet aircraft. On October 17, three pairs of pylons 25 meters high — air gates — were installed on the territory of the airfield. The task of each participant was to fly through all the gates in a certain sequence as quickly as possible, without earning penalty points.

The pilots could complete two attempts, each two laps. The best result was included in the final standings.

After training and qualifying flights, all participants were admitted to the final race, which took place on Saturday, October 19. As a result, athletes from the Kaluga region were in the top three in the individual competition. However, the Crimean pilots also showed excellent results and took third place in the team competition. Let us remind you that the coach and team leader is the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, President of the Air Racing Federation of the Republic of Crimea Lyudmila Zelenina.

It should be noted that the Crimean team competed in air races for the first time. During the first stage of the Russian Air Racing Championship in the piston class at the Drakino airfield in the Moscow region, Crimean pilots also made it to the top three winners in the team competition.

After the completion of the air races, the weather allowed the participants to conduct the second planned discipline — aerobatics competitions on jet aircraft. Here, the pilots’ task was to perform two sets of aerobatic maneuvers, the judges’ task was to determine the winners in each of the two exercises, as well as based on the results of the all-around.

After all flights were completed, the names of the winners and runners-up were announced.
