Crimeans say: neurosurgeon of the YMMC of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia spoke at a medical conference in Delhi
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Head of the Neurosurgical Department of the Yaroslavl Medical and Medical Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, neurosurgeon Andrey Sitnikov took part as an invited lecturer in the conference of the Indian Society of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery
This year, 160 doctors from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, the USA, Brazil, France and other countries took part in the event. Our country was represented by a specialist from the YMMC FMBA of Russia.
Stereotactic and functional neurosurgery in India and the region are at a high level and continue to develop rapidly. The conference featured a large number of papers and the most interesting clinical cases.
Conferences held in such places are extremely interesting due to the large number of presentations of the results of stereotactic destructions, since access to neuromodulation is limited. I would like to note that another country has adopted and clinically tested the method of bilateral destruction of the anterior nuclei of the thalamus for the treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy, which I proposed more than 10 years ago. Dr. Basant Pant, one of the most famous neurosurgeons in Nepal, reported on the results of treatment of six patients who underwent surgery using our method, four of whom are currently seizure-free.says Andrey Sitnikov.
A neurosurgeon from the Yaroslavl Medical and Medical Center of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia gave a lecture to his colleagues entitled “Surgery of the anterior thalamic nuclei in the treatment of epilepsy.”
The conference focused on surgical treatment of epilepsy. Currently, in India, only 2 out of 1,000 patients who need surgery receive it. Despite this, one clinic has performed about 4,500 surgeries in 10 years, which is a huge experience.
Such conferences allow you to get acquainted with new treatment methods and learn from your colleagues, these are meetings and discussions with old friends, new acquaintances and a huge number of joint plans for the future, including holding congresses, master classes and further exchange of experience.— notes Andrey Sitnikov.
