Crimeans started for the first time in the Russian Air Racing Championship and entered the top three

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The team was created at the beginning of 2024 and these competitions were the first in history for Crimeans. In the piston aircraft class, our region was represented by three participants — Dmitry Motin, Ivan Barsov and Sergey Zakharov. The coach and team leader is Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, President of the Air Racing Federation of the Republic of Crimea Lyudmila Zelenina.

As the portal was told “Crimean sport» in the press service of the project “Russian Aviation Races” and the aerobatic team “Zvezda” (Valentina Potselueva), a total of 12 pilots from four regions took part in the Russian championship on piston aircraft — Moscow, Moscow and Ivanovo regions, as well as Crimea. The athletes competed on Yak-55 and Su-29 aircraft.

The task of each athlete was to complete the course marked by air gates (pylons) as quickly as possible without earning penalty points. The pilots had two attempts each, the best of them counted.

Among the Crimeans, the one who most successfully coped with this task was Sergey Zakharov. The route was completed cleanly, without penalty points. According to the results of personal competitions, our fellow countryman took third place. His result was improved by Ksenia Grinberg (Moscow, first place in the individual competition) and Alexander Vasiliev (Moscow region, second place).

In the team competition, the places were distributed as follows: 1st place — the Moscow team (Alexey Ivanov, Ksenia Grinberg and Oleg Larionov), 2nd place — the Ivanovo region team (Vladimir Nikolaev, Maxim Bugaev and Igor Konjar), 3rd place — Crimea team (Dmitry Motin, Sergey Zakharov And Ivan Barsov).

All prize-winners and winners of the stage received awards from the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.

After the completion of the competition at the Drakino airfield, the Russian air racing championship will continue in the Kaluga region at the Oreshkovo airfield. From October 14 to 20, aviation races in the jet class will take place here, as well as competitions in the discipline “aerobatics on jet aircraft.” Pilots from Crimea will also fight for victory — both in the individual and team competitions.
