Crimeans want to assemble a prototype of an electric car based on the Gazelle.

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Crimean research and production enterprise Elkafa will assemble a prototype electric vehicle based on the Gazelle by the summer of 2024 and will begin its trial operation in the summer, Mikhail Demuria, chairman of the association for the development of electric vehicles Rustranselectro, told TASS.

We consider Gazelle one of the most promising platforms for our set of components. By the summer of 2024, we are already planning to make a prototype of the Gazelle with our set of components, that is, it will be an electric Gazelle. It is planned to make a range of at least 200 km on one charge, the planned maximum speed is at least 80, or even 90 km/h— quotes TASS specialist

The interlocutor clarified that such electric vehicles are supposed to be tested on the routes of distribution companies that are engaged in the daily transportation of industrial and food products within the city. According to calculations over a seven-year horizon, operating an electric Gazelle will cost 4-5 times less than a diesel one.

Over 7 years, the car travels 525 thousand km, which is 250 km per day, during which time a kilometer of mileage for a diesel Gazelle costs 9.6 rubles, and for an electric one it costs 2.4 rubles. We have already shown these figures in Simferopol to our distribution companies; they are very interested in starting trial operation of such machines at home. Therefore, there are preliminary agreements; all that remains is to complete the tests, finalize them, create prototypes and put them into trial operation. This, I think, will be the summer of 2024,” says Mikhail Demuria.

Previously, the Elkafa research and production enterprise began research and development work to develop a set of components for converting UAZ cars into electric vehicles. In 2024, it is planned to produce up to 100 of the first domestic electric SUVs based on the UAZ-452 SGR (“Loaf”).
