Crimeans were among the first to help evacuees after the destruction of a hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Representatives of the Popular Front from Crimea brought the necessary humanitarian aid to temporary accommodation centers in Skadovsk, Kherson region. Many people managed to take only their documents with them and swim out of the flooded streets in boats, now their houses are completely submerged.
The situation is changing every hour, people arrive at TACs, we actively help in this. Anyone who needs help can contact the administration and get help. We are very grateful to the People’s Front, United Russia, Artek for the collected help. Crimea is not just geographical neighbors, it is our close friends who were the first to respond. Yesterday, the People’s Front of Crimea immediately offered its help, gathered and today we are already together with the people, handing over the most necessary and trying to help in resolving their issues, — says the deputy governor of the Kherson region for work with evacuees Tatyana Kuzmich.
Many people stayed there and need help. Many of those who managed to evacuate are now in temporary accommodation centers. In Skadovsk, there are more than two hundred people who are now trying to find out the fate of their relatives and are waiting for help.
The house was completely flooded, the garage, the car, everything that was. Chickens were thrown into the attic, the dogs just swam on logs. They got out of the street on a single boat, they didn’t take anything with them, my mother is 97 years old with me, they got out, I had to leave the dogs— a resident of Naked Pristan recalls with tears in his eyes.
A full-scale assistance is being deployed to all the victims.
At the request of the Kherson administration, we collected humanitarian aid for the evacuated people and immediately delivered it directly to the people. There are many bedridden elderly people who need hygiene products, diapers, there is a request for individual products, for household chemicals, for dishes, for food. We brought all this and gave it from hand to hand. We heard the stories of people, learned how we can help, many relatives still remain in the flooded areas. We have given all the information to our representatives in Hola Pristan, now groups are also working there that will try to help reunite families.— says the head of the regional executive committee of the Popular Front in Crimea, Alla Vertinskaya.
