Criminal cases of abuse of power have been opened against the former head of the Sevastopol forestry enterprise
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol have opened criminal cases against the former acting director of the State Autonomous Institution «Sevastopol Forestry» on five counts of abuse of office in the performance of contracts related to environmental protection (Part 1 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The Investigative Department for the Balaklava District established that in 2020, a state autonomous institution operating in the field of forest management in Sevastopol entered into a number of contracts with an individual entrepreneur and legal entities to perform work on clearing water bodies, as well as replanting green spaces, including those listed in the Red Books of the Russian Federation and Sevastopol, growing in the area of road repairs. Knowing that the work was not completed, and in some cases was carried out by subordinate employees, the defendant signed documents certifying that they were carried out by contractors. Based on the signed documents, work that was not actually completed was accepted and paid for in excess of 20 million rubles, — the department’s press service reported.
The illegal actions of the official were revealed during a prosecutor’s investigation in cooperation with employees of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol and the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
During the searches conducted at the place of residence of the defendant and the offices of the contractors, materials confirming criminal activity were found and seized. The actions of the accomplices will also be given a legal assessment.
The criminal investigation continues.
