Cucumbers are not eggs; greenhouse enterprises in Crimea must saturate the pre-New Year market
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Greenhouse enterprises in Crimea collected more than 14.5 thousand tons of vegetables. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea Andrei Savchuk. Until the end of 2023, a slight increase in the harvest is expected, 3-5% more than last year.
The main types of vegetables grown by large and small greenhouse enterprises in the Republic are tomatoes, cucumbers and bell peppers. Almost everywhere the cleaning has already been completed. They are preparing to sow seeds for next year’s harvest. Today we visited one of our leading such enterprises, TC Belogorsky. This year, the plant’s employees grew more than a thousand tons of tomatoes. By the end of the year they plan to collect more than seven thousand tons of cucumbers. There are plans to harvest more than 9 thousand tons of this medium-fruited vegetable “Meva” in 2024.,” the minister commented.
The head of the Crimean Ministry of Agriculture added that this greenhouse plant is a high-tech investment project. A special “smart system” monitors the complex processes of heating, ventilation, drip irrigation with units for preparing and supplying a solution of mineral fertilizers, electric lighting of plants, regulation of carbon dioxide concentration and other modern technological solutions. The microclimate and mineral nutrition here are also controlled by a computer.
Let me remind you that the first stage of the greenhouse complex began operating several years ago. Later the second stage was put into operation. In addition to the complex scientific technologies that are used in the production of vegetables, they use a biological method to protect plants from pests. Beneficial insects — entomophages — fight them. We support our greenhouse enterprises. We reimburse energy costs for vegetable production and additional lightingnoted Andrey Savchuk.
