“Cycle” of the wallet: loss – discovery – material evidence. Case in Simferopol

In Simferopol, a 29-year-old local resident contacted the police. She reported the theft of her wallet, which contained 7 thousand rubles and a gold ring with a chain. The victim explained that near an apartment building, she inadvertently left her wallet on a bench. When she returned a few minutes later, she did not find her property.
As a result of operational search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of OP No. 3 “Central” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Simferopol identified and detained a suspect in committing a crime. She turned out to be a 31-year-old local resident.
The detainee said that while walking down the street, she saw a wallet lying on a bench, which she took for herself. She spent the money found in the wallet for her own needs, and sold the gold items at the city market to an unknown man. During a search at the residence, police seized a wallet.— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
A criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
