Russian President Vladimir Putin declared 2024 the Year of the Family. And today we are talking about this in the heart of Artek — at the Artek Arena. All of you are part of the almost two million Artek family. You are an integral part of a huge family called Russia. Our President said that our country is a family of families. You, Artek 12th shift workers, are the pride of our family. I’m proud of you! Artek life lasts 21 days, and we tried very hard to ensure that you live these three weeks according to our laws and rules, and become part of Artek. You studied, traveled, celebrated the Unity Day of our country. Of course, they respected their elders and tried very hard not to offend the younger ones. We believe that in 21 days you have learned to be friends. Artek residents, join hands with your friends, raise your hands to the top. I am sure you will carry these handshakes throughout your life, because an Artek resident today is always an Artek member! – Director of Artek Konstantin Fedorenko greeted the children’s center pupils.

The guest of honor of the Artek 12th shift was a member of the Northern Military District, holder of the Order of Courage Mikhail Sukhenko. From the first day he took part in a special military operation. Among his awards are medals “For Military Distinction” and “For Military Valor”, II degree. Also awarded the Order of Courage.

Mikhail Igorevich is a real hero. Carrying out tasks in one of the defense areas, he organized the repulsion of an attack in a significant tactical direction. Mikhail Sukhenko’s group subsequently drove the enemy units back to their original lines. Thus, a breakthrough of the defense was not allowed, the enemy’s plans were thwarted, and the enemy unit suffered serious losses.

I know that you, like many residents of Russia, collected and delivered parcels to the front. Without this love and support “behind the ribbon” it is very difficult. Thank you for this. Many of my comrades and I carried your letters in our chest pockets. The webs you helped to weave protected us from our enemies. Thank you for your support and love— Mikhail Igorevich addressed the Artek residents.

The guest of honor read a message to the children from the heroes from the front line: “Dear Artek residents, become active participants in public life, contribute to the development of your city, region, region and be ready to take responsibility for the future of our great Motherland. After all, it is for the sake of a peaceful sky above our heads, for the sake of the future of our children, that the whole country has now united. Our future is in our hands,” the message says.

Together we will win! – Mikhail Sukhenko concluded his speech. More than three thousand children stood applauding and said thank you to the hero.

On the farewell evening of Artek, a musical performance based on the folk tale “Fedul and Melania” was dedicated to the year of the family. This is an instructive story about love and support in the family. According to the plot, Fedul and Melanya are husband and wife, each of them does their own household chores. But, as a result of a dispute, they decide to exchange master’s responsibilities. The kids really liked the interesting plot, favorite songs, music and dance accompaniment. “There is no good in a family where there is no agreement,” this is precisely the conclusion that can be drawn after watching the play, which, like any Artek story, ended with a happy ending. The plot of the fairy tale showed the children how important love and mutual understanding are in a family.

Twelve-year-old Daria Donchenko from Simferopol (Republic of Crimea) spent a shift at the Kiparisny nursery. The schoolgirl came to Artek for the first time. “I received a ticket thanks to my achievements in sports. Over the course of my shift, I became friendlier and cheerful, and also more open. As part of the competition, “Star of Artek” showed the children gymnastic elements and also conducted a dance master class. I think that hard work and patience helped me win. I really remember the arrival at the camp and meeting the squad, the opening ceremony of the shift, the sports game “Merry Sportlandia”, the music competition, the creative presentations of the squads and, of course, the “Star of Artek” competition itself. During this shift, Artek became a family for me, where I am always welcome. I wish all Artek residents to be open. After all, “Artek” is exactly the place where you need to be yourself,” Daria shared.

Shift 12 at Artek was filled with vivid emotions and interesting events. The children took part in celebrations dedicated to National Unity Day, took part in concerts, creative events, the holiday of national cultures “Russia is Many-Faced,” and elective courses “Discover Yourself in Russia.”

A highlight of the shift was the Educational Festival “First Opportunities in the Country,” which included the final of the All-Russian competition “Big Change” for high school students. In addition, the guys visited Sevastopol and became spectators of the play “Griffin”, took part in the performance “Heritage of Artek”, dedicated to the memory of the founder of “Artek” Z.P. Solovyov, the interactive game “BAM — 50 years old”, events dedicated to the Year of the Family and other activities. The children are sure that they will remember the shift for the rest of their lives.

At the end of the shift closing ceremony, the guys said goodbye to the children’s center, and the boys gave the girls roses as a sign of friendship.
