Day of Defender of the Republic of Crimea — commentary by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov

Ten years ago, on February 26, 2014, a rally of thousands took place at the Supreme Council. Crimeans firmly expressed their position, speaking as a united front against the Kyiv junta.

Defender’s Day of the Republic of Crimea is an important date for each of us. The date with which different emotions and feelings are associated.

We remember our determination and readiness to fight the Ukrainian Nazis, we remember the joy and relief after “polite people” appeared on the peninsula.

We will always remember our fellow countrymen who died in clashes provoked by extremists from organizations banned in Russia. Eternal memory to the defenders of our republic: Igor Andreevich Postny and Valentina Danilovna Korneva.

Today, like ten years ago, Crimeans are united in the fight against the enemy, in achieving our common goal.
