Day of Remembrance for Victims of Deportation of Armenians, Bulgarians, and Greeks from Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Comment by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov in connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Deportation of Armenians, Bulgarians and Greeks from Crimea.
Today is the anniversary of the deportation of Crimean Armenians, Bulgarians, and Greeks. The memory of this tragedy unites Crimeans of all nationalities.
Exactly 80 years ago, on June 24, 1944, tens of thousands of our fellow countrymen were repressed, evicted from their homes and sent into distant exile. In one day people lost everything.
Only after the reunification of Crimea with Russia was historical justice restored. The Presidential Decree “On measures for the rehabilitation of the Armenian, Bulgarian, Greek, Italian, Crimean Tatar, German peoples and state support for their revival and development” has become an important basis for state national policy in our republic. Within the framework of the decree, programs are being implemented in various areas — from issues of development to support of national cultures and traditions.
The key to the successful development and prosperity of Crimea is the unity of the peoples of the peninsula based on common goals and values, patriotism and love for our common Motherland — Russia— says the commentary of the Head of the Republic.
