December 1 is World AIDS Day. The purpose of this day and the program to fight AIDS is to raise awareness of the world’s population about the disease, how it spreads, methods of prevention and treatment options. The theme for World AIDS Day in 2022 is «A Time for Equity» (a time to protect everyone’s health).
Today, a high level of HIV incidence remains in Crimea. At the same time, the disease has become not only a problem for vulnerable and disadvantaged segments of the population, but also cases of infection in the general population have become more frequent, and the number of confirmed deaths from AIDS has increased. Therefore, in addition to diagnostics, the main method of prevention is outreach , — noted in the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea.
Timely diagnosis and testing for HIV infection is the key to successful treatment in the early stages. It should be noted that on December 1 and 2, free testing for antibodies to HIV infection was organized in the center of Simferopol.
Residents of the Crimean capital will be able to undergo anonymous express testing as part of an action timed to coincide with International AIDS Day. The promotion will take place:
