Avito Works experts studied the dynamics of vacancies and average offered salaries for representatives of the road construction sector in Russia. Thus, in the spring of 2024, the demand of Russian employers for road workers specialists increased 3 times (+207%) compared to the same period last year. Average salary offers for new employees increased by 29% and reached 70,550 rubles per month for a full day.
Road workers are involved in the construction, repair, and maintenance of roads, performing tasks such as preparing road surfaces, laying asphalt surfaces, repairing potholes and cracks, and major repairs and maintenance of road infrastructure. They install and repair sidewalks, curbs, drainage systems, road signs and lighting, as well as landscaping and maintenance of road machinery and equipment.
The number of active vacancies for the monolithic position has increased by 2.8 times (+179%) — these are specialists involved in laying and forming monolithic concrete structures, including for roads. In the spring of 2024, applicants for the position could count on an average of 99,767 rubles per month (+40% per year).
The handyman profession also turned out to be popular with employers—the share of job offers for these specialists increased 2.2 times (+119%). Employers began offering new employees 23% more—the average salary offer was 51,718 rubles per month.

Among the highest paid road workers in the spring of this year, the leader was the already mentioned monolithic workers with average salary offers for new employees of 99,767 rubles per month (+40% for the year).
The list also includes drivers. Thus, employers were willing to offer applicants for the position of driver of special equipment an average of 98,096 rubles per month (+34%).
Candidates for the position of concrete mixer driver also receive high salary offers — in the spring they were offered an average of 96,107 rubles per month (+9% per year).

On the eve of the summer season, we are seeing a significant increase in demand for road workers. The increased demand for personnel in the industry is facilitated by the implementation of large infrastructure projects and the need for repair, maintenance and modernization of the road network. In the face of a shortage of personnel, employers in the road construction sector are forced to compete for candidates with companies from other segments of the labor market: for example, drivers of categories C and E, in demand in the fields of agriculture and logistics, which helps to increase salary offers for these specialists— comments Alexander Sampetov, director of the category “Workers and line professions” of Avito Works.
