Despite the relatively dry May, there is sufficient water supply in Crimean reservoirs

CrimeaPRESS reports:

More than 170 million cubic meters.

In May, a significant lack of precipitation was observed in the basins of most rivers in Crimea. The largest number of them — 41 mm (norm) was noted in the Kokkozka River basin near the village of Aromat. In the remaining basins, the amount of precipitation amounted to 5.1-26 mm and was: in the river basins of the south-eastern foothills, Salgir and South Coast within 10-26% of the norm; in the basins of other rivers within 33-52% of the norm. About it told in the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Crimean Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring”.

In the Crimean Mountains, where the sources of the main rivers are located, very little precipitation fell: on Ai-Petri — about 10 mm (17% of the norm), in the area of the Angara Pass — about 11 mm (also 17% of the norm).

The lack of precipitation, which has persisted over the past two months, has contributed to a gradual decrease in water availability in all river basins. A short-term increase in water levels by 59 cm was observed on May 28 only on the Maly Salgir River, within the city of Simferopol, due to slope runoff. Basically, there was a gradual decrease in water levels by 1-2 cm per dayhydrologists noted.

Due to the fact that water was withdrawn from the Belogorsk and Taigan reservoirs into the bed of the North Crimean Canal for water supply to the eastern regions of the Republic, increased water availability remained in the middle and lower reaches of the Biyuk-Karasu River, and the volume of water in these reservoirs decreased significantly.

The total total supply of water in reservoirs located in the beds of the main rivers of Crimea by the beginning of summer amounted to 176.64 million cubic meters, which is 14.23 million cubic meters less than a month ago. Let us note that in total Crimea consumes about 160 million cubic meters of water per year. Even if there is no precipitation at all, the reserves will last for more than a year.
