Sitting behind the wheel of a moped or scooter, young road users sometimes do not think about their safety. Do not think about it and their parents, who do not take into account the age of children and the need for a driver’s license, as well as driving skills. The use of helmets while riding mopeds is also overlooked by parents. But it is worth remembering that, even in a minor accident, a child can be seriously injured, or even pay with his life.
A recent example from Simferopol: a driver, born in 2007, driving a Honda Dio moped, moving from the side of Gurzufskaya Street, in the direction of Kuibyshev Square, on Kievskaya Street, in the extreme left lane, did not choose a safe distance and collided with a vehicle ahead in passing direction by a Skoda Octavia vehicle. As a result of an accident, a sixteen-year-old moped driver was injured and hospitalized in a medical facility.
A recent far more tragic example.
On June 25, at about 21:00 on the highway «Alushta — Sudak — Feodosia», a 23-year-old driver of the motorcycle «Ryder», moving from the side of Sudak in the direction of Feodosia, while turning left, drove into the oncoming traffic lane, where he collided with a moped «Viper «, under the control of a minor driver. As a result of the accident, the 15-year-old moped driver and the driver of the Ryder motorcycle died from their injuries. The 14-year-old passenger of the moped was injured and taken to a medical facility.
The State traffic inspectorate reminds (and asks a rhetorical question):
The right to drive mopeds is granted to persons who have reached the age of 16 and have a driver’s license. For driving a minor driver (when he reaches the age of 16) a moped, a scooter, a motorcycle, a car, without having the right to drive, administrative liability is provided in the form of a fine in the amount of 5 to 15 thousand rubles, in accordance with Part 1 of Article 12.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation , while the vehicle is delayed in a specialized parking lot.
