Doctors of the Republican Clinical Hospital named after. N. A. Semashko performed a complex operation on the carotid artery
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Aneurysms of the extracranial internal carotid arteries are a rare vascular disease and occur in one person per million of the population. At the same time, an asymptomatic course of the disease is often encountered, which means that the patient is admitted to the hospital after the development of such serious complications as thromboembolism of intracranial arteries (acute blockage of a blood vessel with a blood clot) with the development of a stroke and compression of the cranial nerves. A patient of angiosurgeons at the Republican Clinical Hospital named after. N.A. Semashko became a 64-year-old woman. The patient complained of frequent dizziness, headache, and also had a tumor-like formation in the neck. Based on the results of the examination, an aneurysm of the extracranial part of the left internal carotid artery was identified and a decision was made on surgical correction, — noted in the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea.
A high-tech open operation was performed by a team of vascular surgeons with extensive experience in reconstruction of extracranial sections of the brachiocephalic arteries — Amet Umerov and Margarita Krivonosova. The complex surgical intervention was successful. Currently, the patient is under the supervision of doctors, the postoperative period proceeds without complications.
