Driver sentenced for hitting cyclist in Crimea

The verdict of the Nizhnegorsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea against a 38-year-old resident of the Nizhnegorsky District for committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Violation by a person driving a car of the rules of the road or operation of vehicles, negligently causing grievous harm) human health).
As follows from the materials of the criminal case, in March last year, a Nizhnegorsk resident, driving his VAZ car, was moving along a highway in the village of Nizhnegorsky. While driving at an intersection, a man collided with a bicycle driven by a woman in 1964. As a result of a traffic accident, the victim suffered serious bodily harm. At the hearing, the defendant fully admitted his guilt in the charge, repented of his deed, explained that he compensated the victim in the amount of 50,000 rubles— reported the press service of the court.
The court, having comprehensively studied the materials of the case, found the defendant guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, and sentenced him to a restriction of freedom for a period of 1 year with the imposition of restrictions provided for in Article 53 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Thus, during the year, the convict will not be able to leave the city, go to entertainment events, or change his place of residence. At the same time, he will be obliged to report to the criminal inspection from one to four times a month. In addition, according to the verdict, the convict will have to pay the victim 450,000 rubles in moral damages.
