Drunk drivers should be aware that their cars may be confiscated. Forever… Verdict of the Saki District Court

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Saki District Court of the Republic of Crimea found a resident of the Sovetsky district guilty of failure to comply with the legal requirement of a traffic police officer to undergo a medical examination for intoxication (Part 1 of Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The court established the circumstances of the crime. Traffic police officers patrolling the roads in the evening in the village. Novofedorovka, they stopped a MAZDA 3 car; when checking the driver’s documents, signs of intoxication were revealed, but the man refused to be tested for alcohol intoxication. At the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted his guilt in committing the crime, repented of his crime, refused to testify, taking advantage of Article 51 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which guarantees the right not to incriminate oneselfnoted the press service of the court.

The court, having assessed all the available evidence in the criminal case, decided to impose a fine in the amount of 200,000 rubles with deprivation of the right to engage in driving vehicles for a period of 2 years. The MAZDA 3 car belonging to the defendant was confiscated into state ownership.

The verdict did not enter into legal force.
