Dutch company fined for participation in construction of Crimean bridge
CrimeaPRESS reports:
According to the investigation, between 2015 and 2016, the company sold piling rigs and components for the construction of the Crimean Bridge. In addition, Dieseko Group sent mechanics to the site to provide technical assistance. This happened after the European Union imposed sanctions in June 2014, prohibiting the sale of goods and the provision of services to individuals and legal entities in Crimea.
As a punishment, Het Financieele Dagblad notes, the company was fined €180,000 and deprived of €1.6 million in illegally obtained profits. As the prosecutor’s office noted, the case was closed with the payment of the fine. The prosecution drew attention to the fact that Dieseko Group cooperated with the investigation throughout the entire period. The company posted a press release on its website in which it admitted guilt and promised to prevent similar situations in the future.
In recent years, four Dutch construction and engineering companies and eight individuals have been fined in the Netherlands for their involvement in the construction of the Crimean Bridge. A separate criminal investigation was conducted against Dieseko Group. The prosecutor’s office clarified that an investigation has now been initiated against another company and several individuals.
