Information about a huge poisonous green spot that has spread off the coast of Balaklava in the area where sewage flows into the sea began to spread in Sevastopol public in the first half of Sunday, June 18. Photos and videos with an ominous stain, notes «Sevastopol newspaper», caused fears and all sorts of assumptions. Deputy Governor of Sevastopol Yevgeny Gorlov tried to explain the cause of the pollution twice. He stated that specialists from the Environmental Prosecutor’s Office, the Investigative Committee, and Sevprirodnadzor immediately went to the scene, and the necessary laboratory tests were taken at the facility. At the same time, by the nature of the stain, he suggested that the water utility services could use natural dye to check for leaks in the sewerage system. Since such an event has already been carried out before.

20 minutes after the first statement of the deputy governor, he again went live on social networks and reported that the solution spilled in Balaklava did not pose a health hazard. The incident is regarded as a failed provocation. They are looking for the culprits.
The specialized service carried out the analysis. First, there are no excesses, there is no poisoning of the water area. Secondly, all manholes and the sewage system were inspected, where no elements or possible violations in operation, or the formation of any chemical compositions were also found.
Yevgeny Gorlov also noted that at present, the water utility service does not use dye to carry out and identify the fact of damage to the sewer network.
Therefore, I think that these are some kind of hooligan antics or a provocation on the part of third parties in order to destabilize the normal mood of the inhabitants of our city,” the official summed up the interim investigation.
