Elections of deputies to the State Council of Crimea will be held on a single voting day — September 8, 2024

During the absentee voting, the State Council of Crimea adopted a resolution setting the date for the elections of deputies to the republican parliament. As the Chairman of the Counting Commission, Vice Speaker Alla Ponomarenko informed, 72 deputies voted for this decision (2 did not vote).
According to Part 1 of Article 8 of Federal Law No. 67-FZ “On Basic Guarantees of Electoral Rights and the Right to Participate in Referendums of Citizens of the Russian Federation,” the end day of the term for which government bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local government bodies, and deputies of these bodies are elected is the second Sunday of September of the year in which the term of office of the said bodies or deputies expires, and in the year of elections of deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the next convocation — the day of voting in the said elections. Elections of deputies to the State Council of the Republic of Crimea of the second convocation took place on September 8, 2019. Thus, the term for which the State Council of the Republic of Crimea of the second convocation was elected ends on September 8, 2024,” they justified the decision in the State Council of the Republic of Crimea.
The decision to call elections must be made no earlier than one hundred days and no later than ninety days before voting day. The regulations have been complied with.
