Elimination of the consequences of bad weather in Sevastopol: work continues

For more than 24 hours, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations have been responding to reports of the consequences of bad weather in Sevastopol.
The first call after the disaster arrived at the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Sevastopol on November 26 after 16:00 in the evening. At the moment, the forces of the Sevastopol fire and rescue garrison have already made 66 trips to eliminate the consequences of bad weather. For more than a day, rescuers have been working to secure and dismantle emergency structures, sawing and removing fallen trees from the roadway, pumping water from premises, and provide assistance to citizens, including evacuating them from flooded areas. Flooding of the first and ground floors of buildings was reported in different areas of the city, including in 3 apartment buildings on Khersonessky Mayak Street, as well as in 11 private households. Work was carried out to pump out water. 35 people were evacuated, including 6 children. More than 320 trees in Sevastopol could not withstand the onslaught of weather conditions. Thus, 5 cypress trees that fell in a Sevastopol kindergarten due to bad weather were immediately removed by rescuers from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Information that the wind had knocked down trees on the territory of kindergarten No. 124 was received by the operational shift of the emergency department on the afternoon of November 27. Employees of the emergency rescue unit of the Specialized Squad of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the city of Sevastopol moved to the scene. Upon arrival, specialists immediately began sawing and removing trunks and branches. In addition, we inspected the garden area for other damage that the elements could have caused. None of these were found. The work involved 5 personnel and 1 piece of equipment.
As a result of the bad weather, 4 billboards, more than 60 roofs of houses, over 40 cars were damaged, and the skins of at least 7 building facades collapsed.
There were no deaths from the consequences of the passage of bad weather. As a result, 5 people were injured. Four were hospitalized. Their lives are not in danger.
In total, 463 people and 165 pieces of equipment were involved in the events, including 15 personnel and 4 pieces of equipment from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Work continues to clear fallen trees and restore power lines, repair damaged roofs of apartment buildings, and restore communications.
Attention citizens! Forecasters predict that today, November 28, strong winds of 15–20 meters per second will remain in the region. On the 29th gusts are expected to reach 25 meters per second, with heavy rain possible at times.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for Sevastopol reminds you of the safety rules: do not stay near the facades of houses, under trees, dangerous structures, billboards, street lighting poles and power lines, on piers, rocks and steep banks near the water. If possible, refrain from traveling by car or walking on city streets.
