The investigator is conducting an investigation into the death of two residents of the city of Shchelkino as a result of their unauthorized repair of the common balcony of an apartment building. As investigators reported, last night a common balcony collapsed, located on the sixth floor of an apartment building in the city of Shchelkino, Leninsky district, resulting in the death of a 44-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man who were there. Another woman, who managed to catch herself on the reinforcement during her fall, was injured and is currently in the hospital.
It has been previously established that the residents of the house proactively decided to cover the balcony with new tiles, for which the man cut off the fire escape that connected the balconies and was, among other things, their support, after which a collapse occurred. The leadership of the investigation department for the Leninsky district, experienced investigators and forensic investigators worked at the scene of the incident. An inspection of the territory was carried out, items used to carry out repairs, and documentation on the maintenance of the house were confiscated— reported in Sledkom.
As part of the inspection, the activities of the homeowners association and its chairman will be assessed for the maintenance and service of the apartment building in accordance with the norms and requirements.
The prosecutor’s office clarified the address of the house in which the balcony collapsed — this is an apartment building No. 78v-2. It is reported that Deputy Prosecutor of the Leninsky District Alexey Shtanko went to the scene of the emergency.
During the organized supervisory activities, an assessment will be made of the compliance with legal requirements for the maintenance of an apartment building, as well as the actions of the officials responsible for its maintenance. The progress of the inspection was taken under personal control by the Prosecutor of Crimea Oleg Kamshilovnoted the supervisory agency.
