Employees of the Artek Children's Center organized a holiday for the pupils of the Belogorsk boarding school for disabled children

The teaching staff of the Morskoy camp of the Artek Children’s Center visited the Belogorsk boarding school for disabled children as part of the Youth Council. The teachers showed the performance to the pupils of the institution and talked with the children.

The youth council at Artek works in three areas: sports, cultural, educational and social activities. Particular attention is paid to the development of the volunteer movement among workers at children’s camps.

As part of the implementation of public activities, employees of the International Children’s Center visited the Belogorsk boarding school for disabled children. The teachers showed the children a performance, told them about Artek and talked to the kids— reports the press service of the Artek Medical Center.

The counselors’ visit to a boarding home for disabled children became a very useful and significant event. The children received additional attention and care, as well as new experiences and positive emotions from communicating and spending time with the guests. The counselors, in turn, learned more about life in the boarding school.

The institution is intended to accommodate disabled children with moderate, severe and profound mental retardation aged 4 to 18 years, suffering from chronic mental illnesses, and in need of care, household services and medical assistance for health reasons.

Every person deserves happiness, and I am glad that we have the opportunity to make the children from the boarding home a little happier. Their positive reaction to our performance was visible. The children came up, hugged the counselors, and it was clear that they were really happy at these moments. And we were happy, because we were able to give a fairy tale called “Artek” to each of them,” said Evgenia Kavteladze, deputy head of pedagogical work at the Morskoy camp.

The event allowed the counselors to give the children a piece of happiness. The staff and students of the boarding home received the Artek residents very warmly. In gratitude for the performance, the pupils of the boarding home presented the counselors with a drawing, which they drew together. A touching gift, gratitude from children and adults, sincere emotions — all this gave the Artek counselors the warmest impressions of the event.
