Epiphany in Sevastopol — places for swimming

Festive events for the Day of Epiphany in Sevastopol will begin on January 18. Services and prayers for the blessing of water will be held in Orthodox churches. The list of temples can be found at link.
The city will also host traditional Epiphany bathing. They are organized in specially designated places:
1. The beach of Karantinnaya Bay is the territory of the Tauride Chersonese Museum-Reserve.
2. Omega Beach.
3. City Beach (Balaclava).
4. Cape Crystal Beach.
5. Orlovka Beach.
6. Area of berth No. 286 in Kazachyaya Bay.
7. Radiogorka pier area.
8. Embankment of the garrison beach of the village. Kacha.

In connection with the celebration of Epiphany, temporary restrictions on vehicle movement will also be introduced:
- on the street-road section along Eroshenko Street from house No. 6 to st. Dmitry Ulyanov from 06:00 until the end of the events on January 19;
- from house number 20 on the street. Eroshenko to house No. 29 on the street. Dmitry Ulyanov from 06:00 until the end of the events on January 19;
- on the street Mikhailovskaya from house number 62 on the street. Gromov until the intersection of these streets from 11:00 until the end of the events on January 19.
Those who plan to take part in Epiphany bathing should take a large terry towel so that they can rub themselves after leaving the water and avoid hypothermia. It is also recommended to have a dry change of clothes that you can quickly put on, a hat, and hot tea in a thermos.
Let us remind you that swimming in winter can pose a danger for people with chronic inflammatory diseases, primarily nasopharynx (otitis, sinusitis), chronic bronchopulmonary, cardiovascular diseases, and diseases of the central nervous system. It is also undesirable for people with osteoarthritis and often recurrent osteochondrosis of the spine to go into icy water.
