Every day more than one and a half thousand Russians write applications for military service. This was reported to the Russian Ministry of Defense. It is clarified that in 2023, 490 thousand contract and volunteer military personnel were recruited into the Armed Forces. In total, in 2022 and 2023, more than 650 thousand military personnel gained combat experience during the special operation.
In addition, the Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu saidthat over 4 thousand Russian students specifically took academic leave in order to go to carry out combat missions in the North Military District zone.
At the end of December, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitriy Medvedev saidthat half a million people were recruited to serve in the Russian Armed Forces under contract in a year.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense announced the total number of contract soldiers in the Russian Armed Forces. There are more than 640 thousand of them. Another 40 thousand are serving in the area of the North Military District as part of the detachments of the country’s Combat Army Reserve (BARS).
