Most often, the wording “By agreement” in the job description and resume is used to negotiate a favorable salary depending on the actual work and working conditions. In the service’s survey SuperJob Representatives of companies and economically active citizens took part.
Some job postings contain the phrase «By agreement». SuperJob found out why companies prefer not to disclose salary. 71% of companies set the salary based on the interview results. Every fourth company studies the salary expectations of candidates in order to offer competitive compensation. 19% hide salaries from competitors and their own employees: the reality of the labor market is that old workers may earn less than new ones. Every fifth employer does not publish information about salaries in vacancies for positions with piecework and bonus payment. 12% hope that the salary expectations of applicants may be lower and they can be hired on favorable terms. 11% honestly say that the company’s income does not correspond to the average market level. 8% expect to attract more applicants. And 7% use the phrase «By agreement» when they are not sure how much it costs to complete a particular job.
Job seekers in Crimea hide their salary expectations, first of all, to be able to ask for more, focusing on the actual volume and conditions of work (43%). 12% are afraid to scare off a potential employer with their financial appetites. 10% hope that the company will offer more money than they expect. 7% prefer to talk about salary in person, the same number want to be able to choose from vacancies with different schedules. Another 7% send resumes with expectations «by agreement» for vacancies where the salary offer is not specified. And 6% do not understand how to determine their value in the labor market.
