Exactly 6 years ago traffic on the Crimean Bridge was opened
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Exactly six years ago, on May 16, 2018, traffic was opened on the road part of the longest bridge in Europe, the Crimean Bridge. A unique artificial structure with a total length of 19 km connected Kerch and Taman, the press service of Rosavtodor recalls:
Since the opening of traffic on the road part of the bridge, more than 26.4 million vehicles have traveled to Crimea and Kuban, including almost 22.3 million cars, as well as more than 302 thousand buses. The demand for southern routes to the Republic of Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory is approximately the same, as evidenced by the intensity of traffic in both directions. The completion of the construction of the road part of the Crimean Bridge in 2018 greatly expanded the opportunities for the development of the peninsula, ensuring sustainable logistics chains for cargo transportation and the development of domestic tourism in the country. The peninsula has begun implementing national projects, as well as implementing a large-scale program for repairing regional and intermunicipal roads.
Crimea has become one of the main holiday destinations for Russians; the sanatorium and resort health resorts of the peninsula are now visited by residents of all regions of our country. Within six years after the opening of the road part of the bridge, the tourist flow to Crimea amounted to 39.8 million people.
In order to ensure safety when traveling along the Crimean Bridge, all vehicles, drivers, passengers and their luggage undergo an inspection procedure similar to that carried out at airports. The inspection is carried out at special sites located on the road approaches to the bridge.
Every day, operating organizations carry out their service to ensure such a high traffic flow with safe and uninterrupted passage. All technical systems are in exceptional condition. Response to traffic situations is carried out immediately,” notes Nikita Khrapov, head of the FKU Uprdor “Taman” subordinate to Rosavtodor.
Today, the normal functioning of the bridge crossing is ensured by more than 200 employees and 35 units of road equipment. There are automatic systems that inform drivers about the course of action depending on weather conditions.
Passenger vehicles and regular buses are allowed to travel across the Crimean Bridge. It should be noted that vehicles with an electric engine or a hybrid installation are necessarily sent to the inspection and inspection complex, and passenger buses are allowed through on a priority basis.
For the passage of freight vehicles, an alternative route has been organized on the mainland of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
*** Highway along the Crimean Bridge – section km 141 – km 160 of the federal highway A-290. It is located under the operational management of FKU Uprdor «Taman» of the Federal Road Agency.
