Expert opinion: how the November holidays will affect wages
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Alexander Yuzhalin, head of the legal practice at SuperJob, explains in his material how the November holidays will affect wages.
November is the last month in the calendar year with a non-working holiday. In accordance with the Labor Code of the Russian Federation, every year November 4 (National Unity Day) is a non-working holiday in Russia. This year, November 4 falls on a Saturday, the day off will be moved to Monday November 6, so everyone who works on a five-day work week will have three days off in a row — November 4, 5 and 6 (from Saturday to Monday).
Having an additional day off per month will not affect the wages of salaried employees. If employees are required to work on a weekend or holiday (November 4), such work must be paid double.
November, as well as December, can be considered for vacation if the goal is to get more vacation pay, since both November and December have quite a lot of working days (21 days each).
A simple rule applies here: the fewer working days there are in a month, the less profitable it is for an employee to take vacation (the cost of one working day in such a month may be more than vacation pay based on average earnings). But since there are quite a lot of working days in November and December, the difference between pay for work on these days and vacation pay, calculated based on average earnings, will be small.
