Experts: a third of Russians are considering changing their profession

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Avito Rabota conducted a survey of more than 7,000 working Russians and found out their attitude towards their chosen field of activity. Analysts found that 35% of Russians surveyed would like to change their profession, but do not yet know what they want to do. According to last year’s survey, there were 30% of such respondents.

Interestingly, in conditions of personnel shortages, employers are increasingly offering specialists the opportunity to learn a new profession from scratch in a new place. In the winter of 2024, the number of such vacancies increased 5.6 times year-on-year, and the interest of applicants increased by 72%.

Most of the Russians who are thinking about trying themselves in another profession, but do not yet know what they want to do, were among representatives of the field of personnel management (52%), home workers (45%) representatives of the hotel and restaurant business (45 %) and online trading (43%). Also, the desire to try themselves in a new specialty often appears among young professionals aged 18 to 24 years (41%) and from 25 to 34 years (40%).

The request from 35% of Russians to change their profession is a significant signal for employers and the system of additional professional education. Businesses should update programs aimed at staff retention: offering retraining and retraining opportunities, as well as options for horizontal growth within the company. For areas of employment in which there is a shortage of personnel, the interest of Russians in changing their profession is a reason to engage in educational work. This is an opportunity to increase the applicant’s loyalty to a new professional field.“, — director of the Moscow International Education Fair, Maxim Kazarnovsky, comments on the study.
