Experts from the National Medical Research Center for Phthisiopulmonology and Infectious Diseases of the Russian Ministry of Health visited Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Federal experts arrived in Crimea to provide organizational and methodological support to local medical institutions in providing assistance to the population of the republic in the area of infectious diseases. Specialists visited several Crimean medical organizations — inpatient and outpatient facilities, laboratories, etc.
At a meeting with the Minister of Health of the Republic of Crimea, Alexei Natarov, experts gave a number of recommendations to improve the accessibility and quality of care to the population. For example, it has been proposed to introduce wider use of rapid tests for diagnosing various diseases, for example, acute intestinal infections.
The need to strengthen efforts in the area of vaccination prevention of the population was also noted, since based on the results of an analysis of morbidity, for example, measles, it was established that the vast majority of cases were patients who had not been immunized.
At the same time, experts noted in Crimea a high percentage of treatment coverage for patients with chronic viral hepatitis B and C. The drugs necessary for the treatment of such patients are purchased not only from the regional budget, but also from compulsory medical insurance funds. In addition, work is underway to organize liver elastometry in seven medical organizations in Crimea. This is a diagnostic test necessary to confirm the diagnosis of chronic viral hepatitis B and/or C. The necessary equipment is being purchased and specialists are trained. This study is already available in five Crimean hospitals.
In addition, colleagues appreciated the work of the Crimean Center for Prevention and Control of AIDS. It was noted that in Crimea there is a good rate of annual coverage of the population with HIV testing. With a target coverage rate of at least 30%, for 10 months of 2024 the figure was 28.7%. At the meeting, the head of the Crimean Ministry of Health instructed chief doctors to conduct a preventive medical examination of patients with HIV infection in order to timely identify concomitant diseases.
Other issues were also discussed at the meeting. I thank my colleagues from the National Medical Research Center for Phthisiopulmonology and Infectious Diseases for their assessment of the infectious disease service in Crimea, as well as recommendations for its development! — said the Minister of Health of Crimea Alexey Natarov.
