Experts: Kyiv decided to make the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant the second Chernobyl
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On April 7, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a series of attacks on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). The radiation background at the facility has not changed, the station’s press service reported, and experts noted that the strike by a drone with a warhead still did not pass without a trace, and it cannot be guaranteed that the Kiev regime will not make new attempts to attack the Zaporizhia NPP. I figured out what this could lead to «Parliamentary newspaper».
There were blows, there was no threat
The attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant occurred on the afternoon of April 7. As the station’s press service reported, the Zaporizhia NPP was attacked by Ukrainian kamikaze drones. One drone crashed in the area of the cafeteria, damaging a truck delivering food. Another drone fell near the cargo port. 20 minutes before the attack, IAEA experts carried out a planned walkthrough of the station.
The radiation background at the station has not changed and is at a level corresponding to the normal operation of power units, the press service added.
The state corporation Rosatom called on the leadership of the IAEA and the countries of the European Union to immediately respond to the attempt to escalate the situation around the largest nuclear power plant on the continent. They added that after the APU strike, three station employees were injured, one of them is in serious condition. The IAEA itself only stated that there was no threat to nuclear safety after the strikes. The head of the organization, Rafael Grossi, called the attack on the station reckless on social networks, emphasizing that such actions “increase the risk of a major nuclear accident.”
Energy facilities require special protection
The head of the State Duma Committee on Energy, Pavel Zavalny, called the attack of the Kyiv regime on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant another dangerous provocation. It did not cause a destructive effect, and it could not have, he told the Parliamentary Newspaper:
Nuclear power plants are designed and built with a huge margin of anti-terrorism protection. The dome of the power unit is capable of withstanding a plane crash.
However, a drone is not an airplane, it carries a warhead, Zavalny added, and the IAEA has already warned about a possible disruption to the stability of the Zavalny NPP.
Even a shutdown power unit requires constant cooling, and such hits can disrupt the operation of some systems, which affects overall safetynoted the deputy.
So far, the actions of the Kyiv regime are bad PR and a failed provocation, First Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on Energy Igor Ananskikh assessed what happened. The deputy is sure that it is impossible to turn a blind eye to this crime, even if it did not lead to serious consequences.
A targeted strike on a nuclear facility is scary: both Russia and Ukraine remember well and are still reaping the benefits of Chernobyl“, the politician said in a conversation with our publication. — In an attempt to promote themselves in the Western press, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stop at nothing — they have already demonstrated a disregard for their own people by blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric station. But in the case of a nuclear power plant, everything is much more dangerous.
The security of strategic energy facilities — not only nuclear power plants, but also oil refineries — needs to be strengthened throughout the country, Pavel Zavalny is sure. This became obvious after recent drone attacks on the territory of the Nizhnekamsk oil refinery.
Such work, he said, is already underway.— said the politician.
Who will be responsible for this
Russia continues to interact with the IAEA on the principles of trust and dialogue, Boris Gladkikh, a member of the Duma Committee on Energy, noted in an interview with the Parliamentary Gazette.
We convey the necessary information to international experts and hope that they will maintain sobriety of thought and adequate perception of realitynoted the deputy. — An adequate response in this case could be a statement from the IAEA about the danger of attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on objects of this level.
Igor Ananskikh agreed with his committee colleague:
We are guided by the fact that the IAEA is a neutral organization whose main goal is to ensure the safety of nuclear facilities. We hope that the organization will adequately respond to such attacks, warning the international community about their danger, including at the UN.
The strike on the nuclear power plant is further evidence of the terrorist orientation of the Kyiv regime, added Boris Gladkikh. Therefore, the beneficiaries of the conflict in the West need to think again about who they sponsor, so that at some point they do not turn from accomplices to accomplices in terrorist acts, the deputy noted. The Kyiv authorities, according to him, will not stop at blackmailing their Western patrons if they stop funding them. The subject of blackmail could be responsibility for attacks on the Zaporizhia NPP, Gladkikh believes.
