Extortion racketeers detained in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Sevastopol, operatives detained extortionists who demanded 250 thousand rubles from a car dealership employee.
Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol, with the force support of members of the Russian National Guard, detained two previously unconvicted local residents suspected of extortion committed by a group of people in a preliminary conspiracy with the threat of violence— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
According to investigators, a 33-year-old local resident, wanting to quickly sell his wife’s foreign car, turned to a 41-year-old employee of an organization specializing in the commission sale of used cars. After discussing the details, he handed over the vehicle to the seller along with the documents and demanded to sell it at a price that was clearly higher than the market price and did not correspond to its technical condition. After some time, the foreign car was never sold. Then the car owner told his 41-year-old friend about the situation, and together they turned to a friend so that she would come to the car sales site under the guise of a buyer and specifically inquire about the above-mentioned car. The woman agreed, and during the inspection, a representative of the company provided her with objective information about the foreign car and advised her not to purchase it.
Having learned the content of the negotiations, the accomplices met with the seller and presented him with claims for allegedly providing potential buyers with false information about the car being sold. On a far-fetched pretext, they demanded monetary compensation from the man in the amount of 200 thousand rubles for a long-term sale, and if he refused, they threatened to use sexual violence. To confirm the seriousness of their intentions, one of the attackers hit the victim in the face with his palm, after which he grabbed him by the neck, continuing to threaten— the police gave details.
The frightened victim agreed to comply with the illegal demands presented to him. That same evening, trying to resolve the situation peacefully, he called one of the extortionists and explained that he did not have the required amount of money. In response, the interlocutor forced me to give him 50 thousand rubles, and demanded that the rest of the amount be collected by the end of the month.
A few days later, another meeting took place, at which the friends increased the required amount to 250 thousand rubles and threatened to use physical force. After this, the victim, seriously fearing for his life and health, contacted the police, and the extortionists were detained.
An investigator of the investigative unit of the Investigative Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol opened a criminal case against the suspects on the grounds of a crime provided for in paragraph “a, c” of Part 2 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. During the preliminary investigation, the defendants were given a preventive measure in the form of house arrest.
