Eyes and eyes: 60% of Russians support parental control on the Internet

Eyes and eyes: 60% of Russians support parental control on the Internet

Krympress reports:

According to the survey*conducted by Mail, together with the Doctor Web company among readers of the Hi-Tech Mail portal, more than half of Russians (66%) advocate parental control of children and elderly relatives on the Internet.

Most respondents believe that restrictions on adult content sites should be set (including online casinos and other gambling)-this was how 61% of users answered. More than a third offer to limit incoming calls from unfamiliar numbers (28%), and 11% would like to remove access to marketplaces.

80% of respondents note that their relatives are aware of all methods of confrontation with fraudsters and the rules of cybersecurity. At the same time, 25% of respondents note that their relatives were already becoming victims of telephone scammers, 5% came across cyber attacks in messengers, and 4% in online games. However, more than half (66%) were able to recognize the fraud in time.

About half of the respondents claim that their relatives know that personal data cannot be disclosed. Every third speaks of the importance of using a reliable password. 15% of respondents warn that you can not move on suspicious links, the same amount is not recommended to open suspicious investments.

55% of respondents believe that most often their relatives communicate on the network with other users. They also watch videos (27%), look for information (10%) and play (8%).

Setting up parental control on the devices of children and elderly relatives is a mandatory step towards their digital security, but that is not all. The open dialogue about threats on the Internet is much more important: fraud, phishing, malicious content and undesirable communication. Children should understand why some sites or actions are dangerous, and elderly people — learn to recognize deception.

Restrictions without explanation can cause protest or distrust. The best protection is awareness in conjunction with technical measures. Start with a conversation, and only then tune the screen time, filtering content and blocking suspicious links. Because security on the Internet is not only prohibitions, but also educationCommented by Ekaterina Biryukova, head of the marketing department of Doctor Web.

*The survey was conducted in May 2025 among readers of Hi-Tech Mail. 8200 people from different regions of Russia took part in it.
