FAS opened a case due to a sharp increase in prices for chicken eggs in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
FAS opened cases against egg producers in Crimea and the Kirov region due to a sharp increase in prices. This is reported by Interfax. As noted in the press release of the service, its territorial bodies identified signs of violation of the law on protection of competition in the actions of companies.
As a result of studying the market, as well as analyzing the materials submitted to the service, the interregional Crimean OFAS discovered a one-time increase in prices for chicken eggs by two Crimean producers — Partizan LLC and Oktyabrskoye JV LLC. Since the beginning of September, they have raised wholesale prices to 94% for different categories of eggs.
According to the service, a one-time simultaneous price increase that is not associated with changes in other general conditions of circulation of goods contains signs of a violation of the law on the protection of competition.
The department opened a case against the companies on the grounds of a cartel agreement, which led to increased prices. During the consideration of the case, the antimonopoly authority will assess the validity of such an increase. If violations are established as part of the consideration of antitrust cases, companies face turnover fines.
